Coaches

Coach Dan Cottam

Dan Cottam, Co-Head Coach and Aquatics Director 


Dan Cottam has been coaching for 12 years at the high school, club and recreational level.   He is one of the co-head coaches for the Crow Canyon Sharks. Dan also is co-head coach of the Crow Canyon Sea Lions summer team -- a squad that is the 4-time Contra Costa County Champion in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.   In addition, he previously served as the head coach of the men’s and women’s swim teams at Acalanes High School in Lafayette.  Dan directed the Dons’ squads to Top 10 finishes in the CIF North Coast Section the past four years. The East Bay native started swimming at 5 years old and continued through college. Dan earned a swimming scholarship to the University of California at  Santa Barbara where he was a four-year member of the Gauchos swim team, winning the conference title in the 1650 yard freestyle. 



Coach Josh Scott

Josh Scott, Co-Head Coach

Josh Scott has been coaching locally since 2002 at the club and recreational level.   He's one of the co-head coaches for the Crow Canyon Sharks.  Josh earned a swimming scholarship to Syracuse University where he was a consistent Big East Championship finalist in the 200 and 500 freestyle and 200 backstroke, and finished his senior year as the Team Captain and MVP.  Josh still enjoys competing occasionally in Master's swimming meets, and picked up a pair of USMS national titles in 2009 as well as setting a Pacific Record for his age group in the 200 yard backstroke.
Josh is also Crossfit Level 1 certified and uses this knowledge of strength and functional movement to further develop his swimmers on land with the Sharks dry-land program.



Coach Annie Babicz

Annie Babicz, Coach

Annie has been coaching since 2004 at the club and recreational level.  She is an assistant coach for the Crow Canyon Sharks and also assists the Sea Lions summer team.  Annie earned a scholarship to Cal where she was the Pac-Ten champion in the 100 breaststroke and a NCAA All American.  She was also a member of the 2002 National Junior team and competed at the U.S.Olympic Trials in 2000 and 2004.
